- My editor asked me to write a synopsis for Windrider, which is a chapter by chapter summary of what happens. Try to write a synopsis for one chapter. Remember, no more than three paragraphs!
- What are the differences between Chinese dragons and Norse dragons? Read the section where Bilbo Baggins talks to the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien to the class, and ask them to compare Smaug and Windrider. How are they different? How are they similar?
- Basil is a gardener but believes at the beginning of the book that he must try to be a prince for Betony's sake. If Basil had continued to be a 'proper prince', what do you think would have happened? Write a letter from Betony to Basil explaining why he does not have to be a 'proper prince'.
- Princes and princesses have strict duties which must be performed. Make a list of the things Betony has to do as the princess. What duties in your life must be performed? Make a list of the things you have to do. Which are the most important? List the things in order of importance to you. Now list them in order of importance to your parent(s)/guardian.
- Windrider flies, although it is very large. Most large birds on Earth are flightless. Is there a point where a flying creature becomes too big to fly? Is there any way a creature as big as Windrider could fly without the use of magic?
- Clover created a miniature of Cassandra's island using sand, rocks, leaves and twigs. Using whatever materials you like, create a miniature of some place you know: school, home, soccer oval, beach...¦
