Teaching Resources

This book is inspired by Britain's Industrial Revolution and would make a good (and unusual!) introductory resource for history students looking at that period. Issues such as the importance of capital and governmental regulations arise in the narrative, as do labour relations, occupational health and safety, the role of women in factories, exploitation of young workers, the apprenticeship system and the development of steam-based technology.
