Along with other authors (like Justine Larbalestier, Scott Westerfeld and Sean Williams), I’ll be chatting and signing books at Pulp Fiction Books in Anzac Arcade, Edwards St, Brisbane on Saturday. I’m scheduled to be there at 2.30, but since there are so many great authors turning up during the day, I’ll probably be there much earlier! Come along and see me!

I am writing a non-fiction picture book about Lake Eyre for Walker Books, and I’ve just come back from a wonderful, invigorating trip to the centre of Australia, where Lake Eyre is filling with water from the Queensland floods. The Lake is normally dry and fills only once every ten years or so. Not only did we go to Lake Eyre, but also to Broken Hill, Coober Pedy, Port Augusta, and the Woomera Rocket Range!

I love the desert, and this trip was inspiring. The working title for the book is The Dreaming Lake. I have lots more photos and am happy to send some to anyone doing a project on Lake Eyre.
